I came across information about a "green run" half marathon and 5K in Richfield, MN. It is a "green run" because the event produces no waste. All the products from the race are recycled, reused, or composted. The drinking cups are made of biodegradable sugar can, the post-race food is organic and the packaging can be recycled or reused. They even plant a "carbon neutralizing" garden to help off-set the carbon fumes from the transportation to and from the even. This event is a novel approach to running and fund raising that may be a worthwhile event for our green theme next year.
